On May 18th, the Women's Campaign: I Seminar on Political Communication will take place in Brasília , which will feature success stories led by great women in the current political marketing scenario. Two of the speakers you already know here on the blog, authors Natália Mendonça and Fernanda Camargos make up the team of ten professionals who will speak at the event.
In the 1st Political Communication Seminar?
An important communicator who phone list will also be present at the seminar is journalist Ludmila Lucas, responsible for the rise of former federal deputy Marcos Rogério to the Senate. Ludmilla spoke to the blog Marketing Político Hoje and spoke a little about her professional role and expectations regarding the event.
How did politics come into your life?
I have always been passionate about politics and social media. I was the child who liked to watch Jornal Nacional and election programs. I started working in the sector even before completing my degree, at the invitation of two professors, in the campaign of candidate Eduardo Brandão (PV) for the government of the Federal District, in 2010. During this period, social networks still had a timid participation in the electoral scenario Brazilian, but there was already an indication of growth and expansion, which ended up being confirmed in the following election with majority candidates, in 2014. During this period, I made a greater investment in my studies and dedicated myself to understanding the universe of social networks in the public sector.
Does your work give you the possibility of carrying out actions that encourage female participation in the political sphere?
As a communications coordinator, I have sought to provide opportunities for other women to showcase their talent. Today, in my Brasilia team, there are only women. And they are very competent and professional women.
There is a false premise that women need to compete with each other to gain recognition. The reality is that there is always room for good professionals.
Do you know of initiatives to promote gender equality in institutions?
Yes, in the National Congress, including. Although women represent 51% of the population, in the Senate we only have 28% of civil servants in the permanent body, 49% of commissioned officers, 41% of outsourced workers and 46% of young apprentices. Only female interns have a number that exceeds that of men in the House, 63%, according to data from 2018. Seeking to change this, the House implemented the pro-equity program , which seeks to promote lectures, educational actions and also awareness about importance of women in society. One of the initiatives goes beyond the field of ideas ; the Senate obliges outsourced service providers to reserve at least 2% of vacancies for women who are in a situation of economic vulnerability after suffering domestic violence. These are still small actions, but we are on the right path.
What will we find on your panel at the seminar?
I'm going to talk about something that many candidates don't give the necessary priority and that was the turning point in Marcos Rogério's campaign for the Senate: the use of research as a basis for the communication strategy.
